Frame it
Attach a flat sheet to the camera as a foreground frame over the whole scene.
Use the Frame it row to attach a flat sheet to the camera, in front of everything (a comic border around the whole scene).
The Frame it row
Place a flat sheet, then tap it on the Figs tab. The Frame it row is on its page:
- On the lens: the sheet is removed from the world and attached to the camera, in front of everything, wherever the camera points.
- In the scene: the ordinary state. Switching back returns the sheet to where it stood.
Atmosphere › On display has the same switch: its Use your own chip lists your placed flat sheets, each with the shot shape it fits. Selecting one sets the same row. The built-in frames are there too. See Atmosphere .
Shot shapes
A frame fits one shot shape: 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, or 3:2. Put a frame on and the shot in The Camera takes the frame’s shape. Select another shape there and the frame is removed.
Make a frame… (Atmosphere › On display) starts a new fig, one blank sheet at the shape you select, named like Frame 16:9, and opens it on the Color tab. Paint it and it fits that shot.
A frame made as a pattern
A frame can be a pattern too. On the home screen, start a New pattern and tap the Frame row (a border for the lens, made for one shape). Select the shape: 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, or 3:2. The canvas opens at that shape with its middle see-through. Paint the border. Paint or erase the window like any other part of the picture.
A saved Frame pattern needs no sheet in the scene. It is listed on the Frame row of Atmosphere › On display as a chip with its name and its shape, beside House window · 3:2 and Train window · 3:2. Tap the chip to put it on the lens. None removes it.
In The Camera
In a scene, The Camera’s On the lens line names what is on the lens, with its shape: a frame, or a sheet set to On the lens. It reads none with nothing on the lens. Tap it to open Atmosphere › On display at the Frame row.
Paint the frame
In Paint , the See-through ink in the palette makes every tool paint a hole, and the eraser’s Erase to row set to See-through erases to one. The scene shows through the holes (dark corners and a clear middle make a vignette).
Frames work on photo scenes too.
The Camera captures what you see, frame included. A sheet on the lens casts no shadow.
