Building on hills
Set a building into a hillside, or stand its walls on the slope
Use the Ground row (Carve | On top) to set how a drawn building stands on raised land . The row is at the bottom of the Build catalog, with nothing selected. It sets the footing of what you draw next. The first wall you draw sets the building’s footing, and the building keeps it.
Carve or On top
- Carve cuts a flat pad into the hillside and sets the building into it (the same as a fig that digs in ). Move the building and the old pad is filled in. A new pad is carved at the new spot.
- On top keeps the ground as it is. Each wall stands on its own cell’s ground and has a footing down to the lowest ground beneath it.
Sloped connectors
A wall whose neighbor stands higher has a sloped top that rises to meet it. The base follows the hill in steps and the connectors fill the gaps.
Floors on a slope
A carved building puts every wall on one floor level. An On top building gives each wall its own cell’s ground. For terraces, draw two buildings on two cliff levels. A Foundation, in the Shape group of the building’s page, raises the whole building onto one slab, and no footings are added under it.
