Light and shadow
The sun and painted lamps cast shadows, and a painted face shapes its own light.
The sun and painted lamps light the scene and cast shadows. Both move when the light moves. There are no shadow discs under figs: every shadow on the ground is cast by the shapes above it.
The sun’s shadows
Every piece in the scene casts a shadow from the sun: figs, land, buildings, nature. Drag the sun disc in Atmosphere › Light and the shadows move with it. Shadows are always on. Standees, sheets on the lens, and glass openings (windows and skylights) cast none, so sunlight passes through a cut window and shows on the floor.
Lamps
A fig with painted light lights the scene around it: the glow shows on the ground, on walls, and on figs standing near. The two brightest lamps in the scene also cast shadows, so a fig between a lamp and a wall casts a second shadow.
Painted faces
The paint on a face shapes the light it casts. Where a face is painted to glow, or is see-through, light passes. Everywhere else the face blocks it, so a window with painted panes casts light in the shape of the panes.
Looks
Handheld and Lofi light the scene this way. Flat and Pixel light it flat: the sun casts flat cutout shadows. Lamp glow and light shapes show only in Handheld and Lofi.
