Sets

A set is a named group of snap pieces. Open one and its pieces are added to the Build door’s catalog, ready to draw with. The sets that come with the app are looks (Cottage, Brick house, and the rest). A look adds no pieces. It fills the catalog’s Draw with row.

Opening a set

1. On the World tab, open Build. With nothing selected it shows the catalog.
2. In the Sets row at the foot of the catalog, tap the tile of a set you saved. Its pieces appear in the catalog as their own row under the set’s name, beside Rooms & walls, Doors, and the rest.
3. Tap a piece and draw on the map.

The same row holds the looks: Plain, Cottage, Brick house, Farmhouse, Cabin, Stone keep, and Workshop. Each tile shows a picture of a small house drawn with that set: its walls, door, window, floor, and roof. Tap a look and it fills the Outside, Inside, Floor, and Roof wells of the Draw with row at the top of the catalog, and the wall style. It places nothing by itself. It is applied to every wall and floor tile you draw next. Plain clears the wells and the wall style.

Every look has a roof: a kind and what covers it. Cottage is a hip roof in thatch. Brick house is peaked in slate. Farmhouse is a barn roof in tin. Cabin is an A-frame in shingle. Stone keep is flat in stone. Workshop is slanted in corrugated. Plain is peaked and plain. The tap sets the kind of the next roof you put on. It does not change a roof that is already standing.

More ▸ at the end of the row opens the sets dialog. It reads Sets: tap one to add its brushes, one card per set with its name and part count. Tap a card to open the set the same way.

Snap pieces glue themselves together as you draw. Press and hold a glued piece on the 3D stage to pop it loose.

Making a set

1. Tap the building’s row under BUILDINGS in the Figs tab’s Scene list. Its page opens.
2. Under SAVE IT, tap Box it as a set. A set holds 2 to 8 parts; corner posts are not counted.

For a bigger build, use Glue it into one fig instead. Take apart splits a building back into loose pieces.

Sharing sets

• ↗ on a set’s card in the sets dialog shares it as a .set file. The file holds every piece; the receiver needs nothing from your library.
• A shared scene file bundles every set piece it uses.
• To bring a set in, select Open a file in New scene. It takes .scene, .fig, .set, and .unflat files.
• ✕ on a set’s card deletes it. Tap it twice: the first tap arms it.

A set that came with the app has no ↗ and no ✕.

Some design challenges open inside a finished house or shop: a whole stage with its own floors. Draw a wall inside one and the app says This set is finished: walls you draw stay on its ground floor. Build in a fresh scene, or beside the set.
