Photos

Photo in Paint puts photographs onto faces. The picture is on the table and the fig’s unrolled sheet is shown above it. Slide the photo until the right part is under the right faces, then tap a side to stamp it.

Select a photo

Tap Photo in the paint screen’s menu row. The picker offers Take a photo, Camera roll, Type words (typed text as a see-through picture of the letters), and Make a pattern sheet. Below the buttons are your pattern sheets and a shelf of your figs, flattened. See Flatten a fig .

To trace over a picture, open the layer chip in the header and select Photo on Sketch…. It switches to the Sketch layer and opens the same picker. What you stamp there is a guide and never leaves the fig. See Layers .

The Make it yours step opens next:

• Frame it drags the shot into frame. Pinch to zoom.
• Warp it squares a slanted photo. See Warp it .
• The tint row under the switch: Plain, Warm, Cool, Pastel, Moody, or Faded.
• Use this photo confirms. ← at the top returns to the picker. ✕ cancels.

The Photo card

The photo controls are in one card, in labeled sections. Tap the card’s header to fold it to a Photo tab at the edge of the screen, and tap the tab to reopen it. On a phone it starts folded. ✓ in the header stamps everything under the photo at once. ✕ closes the photo.

• The photo: six chips. Hold and drag the cross to slide the photo. Minus and plus resize it. The turn arrow rotates it. The two flip arrows flip it. Two fingers on the canvas move the sheet instead.
• Tap to stamp: Whole side stamps the photo across the whole flat side you tapped. One face stamps the face under your finger.
• Pin to face: arm Pin to face, tap a face, and pins appear on the photo. Drag the corner pins onto the part you want. Drag an edge pin and that edge bows. Tap Stamp the face. See Pin to face .
• Magic cut: arm Cut away, tap a color in the photo, and that region is removed. Picky, Normal, or Grabby sets how much one tap removes. Cut parts stamp as see-through holes. See Magic cut .
• Look: the dither panel, open at the bottom of the card.

Stamps use the canvas’s pixel resolution, so photos come out pixelated ; the Standard ▾ chip sets how much. See-through parts of a photo (a PNG cutout) never stamp. Stamped pixels are ordinary paint: draw over them, erase to see-through, or undo the whole stamp in one press.

An unstamped photo stays with the fig. Leave with Done and it is back on the table the next time you open Paint. Tap Photo while a photo is on the table and the Make it yours step reopens where you left it.

Selecting a tool on the toolbar closes the photo.
