Pattern sheets

Make a pattern sheet collects photos of a real thing from every side onto one sheet. The sheet works anywhere a photo does.

Start a sheet

Tap Photo in Paint or in the Pattern studio. The Add a photo popup offers Take a photo, Camera roll, Type words, and Make a pattern sheet. Tap Make a pattern sheet to open the workspace.

Collect your photos

Four buttons at the bottom, next to the strip, add photos:

• Video: select a video. The Pick frames from your video card opens with a scrubber; ‹ and › step a tenth of a second. Take this frame adds the frame to the strip and the card stays open. Pick another video changes the video.
• Photos: select several from your camera roll. They are added together.
• Camera: takes one shot onto the strip.
• Your figs: your saved figs as cutouts. Tap one to add it to the strip. A fig with two or more saved poses opens a row of its poses instead. Tap a pose and a see-through picture of the fig in that pose is added to the strip. The row stays open for the next pose. As saved adds the fig’s own cutout, and Done closes the row.

The strip holds 24. Tap ✕ on a strip photo to remove it.

Build the sheet

Drag a photo from the strip onto the sheet, or tap it to place it in the middle. Drag a placed photo to move it. Drag a corner to scale and rotate it; the rotation snaps to straight. Tap a placed photo for its chips:

• Straighten it opens a card. Drag the four dots around the part you want and press Use it straight. The photo is flattened and squared. The strip keeps the original.
• To front and To back change which photo overlaps which.
• ✕ removes the photo from the sheet.

Loose, 4 pockets, and 16 pockets at the top set the layout. Loose lets photos go anywhere. With pockets on, a dropped photo snaps to cover its nearest pocket, and two fingers on it scale and slide it inside that pocket. Two fingers anywhere else zoom the sheet up to 4×. One finger on empty space pans a zoomed sheet, and ⌖ recenters it.

Save and use it

Press Done. The sheet flattens to 1024 by 1024 and is saved to the Your pattern sheets shelf in the photo popup, named Sheet 1, Sheet 2, and so on. The strip keeps its photos for the next sheet. An empty sheet does not save.

On the shelf, tap a sheet to open it as any photo: Make it yours with Frame it or Warp it, then Use this photo to stamp the part you want onto a fig or into a pattern . Each sheet on the shelf has a download button that saves it as a PNG, and a ✕ that deletes it on the second tap.
