Layers

Select a layer from the header chip. Paint, Sketch, Details, Wear, or Effects.

The paint screen has four layers. The layer chip in the header reads Paint ▾. Tap it to select one:

  • Paint: the base. Fills, stamped photos, and effects are on this layer.
  • Sketch: guides. It shows in the editor and never leaves the fig.
  • Details: drawn on top of the base.
  • Wear: the top layer, for scuffs and grime.

The same menu has a Photo on Sketch… row and an Effects row. See below.

The canvas shows the layer you are on. See-through spots show a checkerboard, and the base shows through them on the fig. The 3D view shows all layers together, with the sketch shown faintly while you edit. On a layer above the base, the Eraser clears the layer so the paint under it shows through.

Photo on Sketch…

Use Photo on Sketch… to trace over a picture. It switches to the Sketch layer and opens the photo picker. Select a photo, slide it into place, and stamp it. The picture stays on the Sketch layer as a guide and never leaves the fig. See Photos .

Clear this layer

Paint on one layer leaves the others alone. On Sketch, Details, or Wear, once the layer holds paint, the layer menu adds Clear this layer. One tap clears that layer from the whole fig.

The Effects row

Select Effects in the layer menu and the chip reads Effects ▾. The last effect you used is armed, or the one the faces already have, or Light; the toolbar’s Effects button selects a different one. Strokes and fills now mark the effect and keep the paint. Marked spots show a hatch on the canvas. The Eraser removes a mark, and so does a Fill pour on a marked patch. Select Paint or any other layer to apply color again. While Effects is selected and the fig has marks, the menu adds Clear effects, which removes every effect from every face and leaves the paint. See Effects .

What is included

Skins , parts , stickers , scenes, and every export show the combined result. Sketch never exports. Effects are stored on the base layer.

Leaving the paint screen returns the chip to Paint, so the next visit starts on the base.
