Scatter
Drag a part across a piece to place multiple, slightly randomized copies.
Scatter places many copies of a part in one drag. With a part selected, switch the mode from Drop to Scatter, then drag across the surface of a piece to generate copies.
How to scatter
- In the Add tab, tap Parts… and select a part from the menu. See Parts .
- Toggle the mode switch from Drop to Scatter. This switch only becomes available once a part is actively selected.
- Drag across an existing piece in the workspace. Copies of the part generate along the path. (Dragging on empty space rotates the camera.)
A single drag gesture creates one unified piece, which is automatically attached to the piece where the stroke began. Tapping Undo will remove the entire stroke at once. The status strip at the bottom of the screen displays the total number of copies generated.
The dials
Use the parameter rows to adjust how the scatter tool generates copies:
- How many controls the spacing between generated copies: Sparse, Medium, or Dense.
- How wild controls the randomization applied to each copy. Every generated copy receives a randomized rotation. Neat keeps all copies upright and identically sized. Natural and Wild introduce randomized tilting, size changes, and mirrored copies. Wild applies the highest amount of randomization.
- Mix skins only appears if the selected part contains two or more skins. When toggled On, each generated copy is assigned a random skin from the part’s available options.
Generating a very large number of scattered copies can slow the app. A warning notification appears if the face count becomes too high.
