Build Build phase

Cut

Add a ring, chop a piece in two, or take a wedge out of a round piece.

Cut places a line on a piece and cuts along it. Its first row sets the kind of cut: Slice adds a ring and removes nothing, Chop removes one side, and Wedge removes a wedge from a round piece. Cut is the tool under Cut in the Build tab.

Tap the piece to place the line, or drag to move it. The preview line snaps to the grid. To leave without cutting, tap or select another tool.

Slice

BUILD SurfacePull outPush inShellBevelCutCut
Cut Adds a ring along the line. Removes nothing.
SliceChopWedgeAcross↔ Side⤢ Front
Tap the part to aim the line. Slice adds a ring there and removes nothing.
Cut
Cut on Slice, showing the direction switch.

Slice adds a ring on the line. If a ring is already there, the preview line snaps to the half-block between two rings. Tap Cut. Slice stays open with a new preview line, and the new ring is selected: leave Cut and it is ready for the Adjust tools. Cut keeps no face selection, so Push in and Punch through start with nothing selected after a Slice.

The second row sets the direction:

  • Across: a horizontal loop.
  • Side and Front: vertical loops, for boxy pieces.
  • Middle: round pieces only. The line runs through the center core. Drag on the piece to rotate it in 15° steps.

Spheres and Donuts take Across and Middle only. On a round piece such as a Cylinder, a vertical line becomes a Middle cut. With Mirror on, a cut on one side is repeated on the other.

Chop

BUILD SurfacePull outPush inShellBevelCutCut
Cut Removes everything past the line and seals the cut flat.
SliceChopWedgeAcross↔ Side⤢ Front
KeepTopBottomBoth
Chop
Cut on Chop, with the Keep switch.

Chop cuts along the line and removes one side. The cut is sealed flat, so the piece stays solid.

  1. Tap the piece to place the line. The side to be removed shows faded. Drag to move the line.
  2. Set the direction: Across, Side, or Front. Spheres and Donuts take Across only.
  3. Use the Keep row to select the side that stays. Its options follow the direction: Top or Bottom for Across, Left or Right for Side, Front or Back for Front. Both keeps both halves as separate pieces.
  4. Tap Chop.

Chop stays open with a new preview line on what remains.

Wedge

BUILD SurfacePull outPush inShellBevelCutCut
Cut Removes a wedge from a round piece.
SliceChopWedgeThinMediumQuarter
Drag on the part to spin the line. Two cuts through the middle, and the wedge between them goes.
Take wedge
Cut on Wedge, showing the preview line through the core.

Wedge removes a wedge from a round piece. The preview line runs through the center core; drag on the piece to rotate it in 15° steps. Select a width, then tap Take wedge:

  • Thin: 30°.
  • Medium: 45°.
  • Quarter: 90°.

The cut is sealed flat at the core, so the piece stays solid. Wedge stays open with a new preview line.

The new flat faces work as any other face: Fill them, or Push in for a hollow.
