Bevel

Bevel cuts the outer edges of the selected faces back one step per press: every edge between a selected face and an unselected one becomes a strip. Press again and the new edges cut back too, so the shape rounds off step by step. Its first row sets what it works on: Tap faces or Tap a line. Bevel is the fourth tool under Surface in the Build tab.

Select faces on one piece, select a Shape, set the Size, then tap Bevel. The top of a box gives four sloped edges; the top and every side, pressed again, gives a rounded box.

Tap a line

Switch to Tap a line and tap a line on the fig: the ring it belongs to is selected. Tap more lines to add their rings. Tap Bevel and every selected line cuts back one step. The switch stays on Tap a line, so the next line is one tap away. The new strips stay selected, so a second press rounds them; tapping another line, or empty space, deselects them. Undo on the Select bar takes back the last line you selected. Leaving Bevel deselects the lines.

The same edges on identical pieces bevel the same way. Where a face beside the bevelled edge has to give up a corner (the top of a fan blade whose tip corners are bevelled), the gap closes with one four-sided face at the short end.

Sharpen

Sharpen removes a bevel. Tap the bevel’s strips, then tap Sharpen: the strips merge back into one hard edge. The faces around the strips set where the edge goes, so tap the strips alone.

Shape

• Blocky: one flat strip across each edge, a chamfer.
• Round: two strips over each edge, an arc. With a Small step Round has no room to curve and comes out as one flat strip, the same as Blocky; use Medium or Big.

Size

Small, Medium, or Big sets how far back each press cuts. New corners snap to the fine grid, and the patch stays sealed. With Mirror on, the matching faces on the other side bevel too.

Refusals

• Faces on two pieces at once: Tap faces on one part at a time.
• Every face of a piece, so no outer edge is left to cut: Pick a patch with an edge to cut: the whole part has none.
• A face too thin for the step: No step fits there: a face is too thin to cut back.
• A line with one face only: Selected line must border two distinct faces.
• Sharpen with faces around the strips selected too: Tap only the beveled faces. Adjacent faces determine the hard edge.

A bevel that would break the piece is undone: Action reversed: modifying here folds the part. Try a smaller step, or Blocky.
