Build Build phase

The Select bar

Tap or drag to select faces, rings, or corners, and select many at once.

Every tool in the Build and Adjust tabs works on what you have selected. In Adjust, the first row of each tool’s window is the Pick row: Faces, Rings, or Corners. Build’s tools take faces (Pull out and Push in also offer Draw a shape). Tap a face to select its entire group (for example, the entire flat top of a shape, rather than a single square). Tap additional faces to add them, or tap a highlighted face to deselect it. Drag across the piece to add multiple faces to the selection. Tap empty space in the workspace to clear the selection.

The Select bar

The Select tab is on the right edge of the screen, under the mode tabs, in both editors, in portrait and in landscape. Tap it and the bar opens in its place as a small window: a title bar with Select and the fold button, then the tools as one column, each a small picture and a word. The active tool shows pressed in. Tap the fold button to fold the bar back into its tab. The tab shows the count of selected faces. The window is as tall as its tools and no taller. When a tab has more tools than the height allows, the column scrolls. Nothing else moves when it opens: the Mirror row and the Steps card are on the left side of the canvas.

What the bar holds follows the target of the open tool:

  • Faces: Tap or Brush, then Piece, All, and None. Tap selects one face group per tap (dragging still sweeps once the finger begins moving). Brush sweeps faces from the first touch, so short strokes select where the finger touches. Brush applies only while the bar is open: fold it or change tabs and it returns to Tap. Piece selects every face on the piece you last touched. All selects every visible face in the workspace. None clears the selection.
  • Rings: Grab, Next ▼, Next ▲, and Let go. A plain tap on a line selects one ring. With Grab on, every line you tap adds its ring, and a tap on a selected ring deselects it. Let go releases them all. See Grab & Let go .
  • Corners: Piece, All, and None for the corner dots.

Undo and Redo on the bar reverse selection changes only, so a stray tap does not lose a built selection. They work on faces, on corners, on rings in Adjust, and on the lines selected for Bevel with Tap a line. A change to the shape itself (a bevel, a cut) starts the selection steps over.

Selection behavior across tabs

  • Switching tabs: Selected faces stay between Build, Adjust and Color, in the color of the tab you are in. Rings and corners are deselected, and Add and Animate deselect everything.
  • Switching tools: Changing tools within a tab keeps the active selection. Changing the Pick row never clears anything: faces, rings, and corners keep separate selections.
  • Color tab: A tap selects a face (the tint is pink). A second tap on a selected face deselects it, and a tap on empty space clears the selection. A color, a pattern, or an effect is then applied to the selection. The bar adds three items: Fill, Pattern, and the selected effect (Light until you select one). A tap only selects, also with an effect chosen in Fill’s Effect dropdown. See Fill .
  • Color tab (Paint): Paint applies to the selected faces. If nothing is selected when you open it, Paint opens on every visible face of the fig.

See Faces, rings and corners for what each target is and how it shows on the fig.
