Draw a shape
Trace your own outline right on a surface, then build it up or carve it in.
Draw a shape to grow or carve an exact outline instead of a whole face. The Grow card carries two draw actions: Draw & pull out in the top group, and Draw & carve in the coral Remove group. Pick one, tap a face, and a lattice of dots appears on it. Tap dot-to-dot to trace an outline (a heart, a doorway), and tap the first dot again to close the loop.
Once the loop closes, set a Height (on pull out) or a Depth (on carve) and press the button: Build it raises your shape off the surface, and Carve it cuts it in. On carve a Partway | All the way through switch appears, and All the way through turns the button into Cut through, a hole right through the model in exactly the shape you drew.
The drawing rules
- Lines can’t cross; the app refuses the dot rather than let the loop tangle.
- ↩ Undo dot takes back the last dot; ✕ Cancel abandons the trace.
- On a flat face your outline may touch the face’s edge, as long as it touches in one continuous stretch. Those edge-hugging shapes can Build but not Cut.
On curved surfaces
Draw a shape works on barrels, spheres, and donut tubes too: the dots follow the curve (dots around the far side hide themselves), and the finished cut or emboss follows the surface. Curved surfaces have three v1 limits: outlines must stay inside the surface (no edge-touching), cuts can’t go all the way through, and Mirror sits these out. The app says so when it happens.
