Sound in a clip
One sound per cut, a song under the strip, and a narration over it.
A clip has three kinds of sound.
- A cut’s sound comes from + Sound on the cut’s page.
- Music comes from the music chip on the band under the frame (+ ♫ before a song is set) or the + Music row on Clip organizer .
- Narration comes from + Narration on the Clip organizer.
No copyrighted sound is included. The sound board’s sounds are made by the app. Everything else comes from your microphone or your own files.
The sound board: one sound per cut
+ Sound opens the sound board for that cut, with a heading such as Sound on cut 2. It is a grid of keys. Eight sounds come with the app: Boing, Honk, Pop, Whistle, Ta-da, Thud, Quack, and Scratch. Your own sounds are keys on the board too, beside Record new, From your files, and None.
- Tap a key to play it and add it to the cut. The cut’s chip reads ♪ its sound.
- Record new starts the microphone. The board shows Recording… with Done and Never mind. Make the sound and tap Done. The take is added to the cut as Sound 1, Sound 2, and so on.
- From your files selects a sound file from your device. It is added to the cut as a key named after the file. Use it for a line you recorded in another app.
- None removes the sound.
Once a cut has a sound, three rows appear:
- Plays: This cut or Whole clip. A whole-clip sound loops under the entire strip.
- When: delays a this-cut sound. At the start, After ½ s, After 1 s, or After 2 s. A cut with a pose change adds With the pose change. A cut where a fig falls over adds When it hits the ground.
- Voice: changes how the take sounds. See Voice changers .
Narration
+ Narration on the Clip organizer records over the clip while it plays. The strip plays from the selected cut and the microphone records at the same time. Tap anywhere to stop. The take is saved and plays back at once from where it began. Recording again replaces the take. After a take, the row reads Your narration and opens a card with Volume, Voice, Re-record, and Remove.
Music
+ Music opens Add music with two rows: Record now and From your files. A file must be under 10 MB. The song loops under the strip. When the song is added, the Music card opens: Volume, Tap tempo, Swap, and Remove. Once a song is set, the band’s chip reads ♫. Tap it to open the card again.
Tap tempo: tap along with the song three or more times to set the clip’s tempo. Once the tempo is set, every hold changes from seconds to beats. The scene’s moves set to On the beat follow the same tempo while the clip plays. See Scene animation .
In the export
The video export includes the whole mix: music, each cut’s sound, and narration. GIFs are silent.
Recording asks to use the microphone. If the app is not allowed, the hint says so.
