Poses
Ready-made poses for the chosen part, and the poses you save by name.
Ready-made and Saved poses are the lower half of Pose by hand . Ready-made puts the chosen part, or the whole fig, into a ready-made pose. Saved poses keeps the fig’s poses by name, shows one on the fig, and compares one with the pose you are working on. A pose is every part’s position at once.
Ready-made
Ready-made is one dropdown. Its button says what the list is for, and the list changes with the Pose dropdown at the top of the page. Select a pose and it is applied to the part. The sliders read the new numbers.
- For an arm…: Down, Out, Up, On hip.
- For a leg…: Straight, Forward, Back, Bent.
- For the head…: Level, Look up, Look down, Tilt.
- For the tail…: Down, Up, To the side.
- For a wing…: Folded, Out, Up.
An arm, a leg or a wing whose twin is named in Rig gets one more choice at the end: Mirror to the Right arm, with the twin’s name. It copies this part’s pose across to the other side. When the twin has a move of its own the choice is greyed and noted has a move.
An arm going Out or Up lifts out to its own side. That is a Turn with Around on Front, so the pose sets Around for you and the Turn slider reads the lift. Swing stays front to back, as in a walk.
The Body and a part with no role have no ready-made poses.
Ready-made for the whole fig
With The whole fig chosen, the button reads For the whole fig…. The list starts with At rest, then the poses for the kind set in Rig . A person has Wave, Sit, Bow, Cheer and Mid-stride. An animal has Beg, Sniff and Happy tail. A bird has Wings out, Preen and Perk up. A Thing has none.
Select one and it is applied to the parts named in Rig. The hint reads Sit applied. Save as… keeps it under a name. A part with a move of its own keeps it: Sit applied. Parts with a move of their own kept it. A second ready-made pose replaces the first. Parts you posed by hand stay. At rest clears every held pose.
These poses need named parts. With none named, the row is replaced by Ready-made poses use the parts named in Rig ›. Tap it to open Rig.
Save as…
Shape the fig, then tap Save as… in the page’s header. Name the pose (Name this pose) and tap Save. A name that is taken asks There is a pose called “Sitting”. Replace it with this one? With Replace, the saved pose takes the new shape and keeps its place in scenes and move sets.
Before the first one, Saved poses reads None yet. Shape the fig, then Save as… at the top of the page.
Showing
Use Showing to put a saved pose on the fig. The first choice is Working pose (not saved), the pose you are shaping. Choose a saved pose and the page reads Sitting is showing. The sliders change nothing until the working pose is back. The working pose is kept. Three buttons act on the pose shown:
- Keep working from this pose makes it the working pose.
- Rename opens the name dialog.
- Remove Sitting, in coral, asks first: Remove the saved pose “Sitting”? The working pose stays as it is.
Choose Working pose (not saved) to shape the fig again.
Compare with
Use Compare with to check the working pose against a saved one. Choose Nothing or a saved pose, then set the switch under it.
- Flip swaps the fig to the compared pose. Press Flip again to return. While it is swapped the page reads Sitting is on the fig. Press Flip again to go back.
- Onion skin draws the compared pose behind the working pose. Choosing a pose to compare turns it on.
- Off stops comparing.
Make a sheet of poses…
With two or more saved poses, Make a sheet of poses… shows at the foot of the page. It opens a sheet of 16 pockets with this fig’s poses listed. Tap a pose to put it on the strip, then drag it into a pocket. Done saves the sheet. See Pattern sheets .
Where saved poses go
Saved poses belong to the fig and are included when it is shared, remixed, or exported to Roblox. The free plan keeps 2 saved poses per fig. Plus has no cap. A pose saved with Save the open position as a pose in the Hinge block on Preset moves is listed here as Open. A scene holds a copy open by selecting it.
A saved pose can be a step of a move set. See Move sets .
In a scene
Every placed fig keeps its poses. On the scene’s Animate tab, select one fig with the Select bar. Under Its own, the Pose dropdown lists Still, each saved pose, and In turn… when the fig has two or more. On the fig’s page in the Figs window, the Pose chip lists Still and each saved pose, and the Picked page on the World tab has a Pose row with the same list. Each copy of a fig can hold its own pose (one copy sitting, one standing). See Scene animation .
In Roblox
Named poses are included in the game prop export . A prop with poses gets a walk-up prompt in the game, and each press applies the next pose. Bend is not exported.
