The Camera & sharing

The Camera

Photos, loops, video, and clips from the Camera tab.

The Camera tab is the last tab in both editors. Tap it and a frame appears over the stage. The output holds what is inside the frame. Tap any other tab to close it. The minimize button on the card collapses it into the tab.

In the fig editor, the Camera frames the whole fig when it opens, and again when you change Shape. Closing the Camera restores the editor’s view.

Drag one finger on empty space to rotate the camera. Pinch with two fingers to zoom. Two buttons at the end of the Angle row move the shot up or down.

The outputs

The card’s first row sets the output: Photo, Loop, Video, and, in a scene, Clip. A note under the row describes the output. The output’s rows are under it.

The Camera card on Photo. The output row is the card's first row; the list names the output, then Shot and Look.
  • Photo: a still PNG. Rows: Figs and Behind.
  • Loop: a looping GIF. Rows: Camera (Still, Wiggle, 90°, 180°, 360°), Figs, and Behind. The note reads Exports a looping GIF. The camera can remain still, sway, or rotate. Still keeps the camera in place and records whatever moves for two to twelve seconds, a length that fits whole cycles of every move so the loop starts and ends on the same pose. When no length fits every move, the note names the move that jumps at the loop point. The figs’ moves also play while the camera rotates. Loops do not fade.
  • Video: a video file. Rows: Camera (Still, Wiggle, Spin, and in a scene Path), Length (Auto, 5s, 10s, 15s), and Figs. Auto records until the moves finish, up to 30 seconds. Every move plays while a video records. Path moves the camera along a line you draw on the map: the Camera closes, you drag the path and tap what the camera looks at, and the Camera returns on Video with Height (Low, Eye, High, Bird), Speed (Whole video, Slow, Normal, Fast) and Draw the path again. Whole video fits the path to the chosen length; with Auto the video lasts as long as the camera takes to travel the path. The camera goes back to your framing when the recording ends. The path belongs to the scene it was drawn on.
  • Clip: a strip of cuts, scene editor only. The shoot face is first, then Camera for the selected cut and Figs. See Your first clip .

Figs sets whether the figs move: Still (nothing moves), Loops (idle moves play), or Action! (every move plays for the shot). In a scene, a move that starts on a tap plays one time under Action! and does not loop. In the fig editor, an animated skin plays its pages under Loops and Action!.

Behind is on Photo and on every Loop, a still one too. It keeps the sky (Backdrop), removes it (See-through), or sets one flat color behind the figs (A color). Tap A color and the swatches open. The chip shows the selected color. The stage shows the choice before you shoot. Photos keep soft edges. Loops use GIF transparency, which is on or off per pixel. Each editor remembers its own Behind choice: the fig editor’s choice does not change the scene editor’s.

The list beside the card names the output with its state under it (Photo · 16:9 · Free, Clip · 2 cuts). Under it are the rows Shot, Look, and, for a clip, Clip organizer. Tap the output’s row to return from any of them. A strip along the top edge of the frame shows the shape, the style, the lens, and the film. Tap one to move to the next choice.

In the fig editor, the hint bar shows the Camera’s line for the output:

  • Photo: Frame the shot, then capture.
  • A loop that rotates: Select rotation and character actions, then record.
  • A still loop: Static camera. Select character actions, then record.
  • Video: Select camera movement and length, then record.

Shot

Shot The frame, the focus, the angle
Shape1:14:516:99:163:2
On the lensnone
SharpSoftDreamy
Iso ↻Front ↻HeroTopFree
Shot in a scene: shape, on the lens, focus, angle.
  • Shape sets the frame: 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, or 3:2.
  • On the lens (scene editor only) names the frame in front of the shot and its shape, or reads none. Tap the chip and the Camera closes and Atmosphere opens on its Frame row, where you select a frame, make one for a shape, or use a sheet of your own.
  • Focus (scene editor only): Sharp, Soft (the background blurs), or Dreamy (only the subject stays sharp).
  • Angle moves the camera to Iso, Front, Hero, Top, or Free. Tap Iso again for the next corner, Front again for the next side. Hero is a low camera: it keeps the direction it faces and moves down near the ground. Top looks down from above. Touch the stage and the angle reads Free.

In a photo scene the camera is fixed: no Angle row, no On the lens row, no Focus row, and Loop’s camera has Still and Wiggle. Wiggle sways the camera slightly so the figs shift against the photo. In a clip, every cut keeps its own shot. See The cut's camera .

In a scene with a frame on, the shot uses the frame’s shape. Selecting another shape removes the frame. See Frame it .

Look

Look The style, the lens, the film

Look: style, lens, film.
  • Style shows the shot in Handheld, Lofi, Flat, or Pixel. Wires shows the wireframe and counts its triangles. Closing the camera restores the style.
  • Lens (scene editor only): Off, Instant, Cozy (dark corners), Fisheye (a round lens), Retro TV (curved glass, scanlines, flicker), VHS (tracking, color bleed, grain), or Security cam (a gray-green monitor with a blinking REC). With Fisheye on, an Around row fills the space outside the circle: Black, Edge color, or Smeared.
  • Glow (scene editor only): Off or Bloom. Bloom adds a halo to painted light and lamps. Nothing else glows.
  • Film is the color grade: None, B&W, Ritual, PSX, Sepia, or Dream.

In a scene, the lens, glow, focus, and film stay on the scene after the camera closes.

Instant adds bloom on bright spots, noise, a warm cast, JPEG blocking, chunky pixels, and an orange date stamp in the corner. See-through and A color are not available with it.

Clip organizer

Clip organizer opens once a clip has a cut. It works on the whole strip: tempo, mood, wearing, and the More row. See Clip organizer .

Take the shot

The shutter button’s label follows the output: Snap for a photo, Loop it or Spin it for a loop, Roll it for video, and Cut! for a clip’s next cut. Photo and Video count down from 3. Loops and cuts start at once.

Photos save at up to 2048 pixels on the long side, loops at 480, videos at 1280. The app draws a photo at that size for the shot, whatever the size of your screen. On a device, each file opens the share sheet, and the Share sound plays when it is sent. See Files to a computer .

Takes

Every shot from this session is listed under TAKES at the bottom of the camera’s list, newest first. Tap one to share it again. The tray holds six and empties when you close the app.

A take is named after the fig or the scene, then the output and the shape: Momo-photo-16x9.png. A See-through take ends in -clear and a take on a color ends in -color.

Free saves have a small Ünflat mark in the corner. Plus saves have none. A sprite sheet is made from Share › Game development, not the Camera. See Export a .glb .
