Ideas
Name an idea, collect mood words and the pieces it needs, then start its scene.
Use the Ideas menu to plan a scene before you build it: name it, collect mood words, list the pieces it needs, and fill the slots as you go. Ideas is the last word on the menu bar of the home screen and both editors. Its rows: This idea (Start an idea… while there is none) opens the current idea, All ideas… opens a window listing every saved idea, and New idea… opens the New idea window.
Starting an idea
With no current idea, the menu’s first row reads Start an idea…. Tap it, type a name and tap Start it. New idea (the full sheet) opens the New idea window instead: a name, vibe words (type one, press Enter), a face, and the pieces it needs. Start now makes it the active idea; Pocket it saves it for later. Today’s Start here row has New idea too.
Inside an idea
Vibe is a row of word chips. Tap + vibe and type one word (cozy). Tap a word to remove it.
Picture takes one sketch or photo. Sketch it opens a sketch pad; Add a photo selects a picture. Tap a sketch to keep drawing. The ✕ removes it.
The list shows the pieces. Each slot has a kind (Fig, Pattern, Photo, Sky, or Outfit) and a label. An empty Fig or Pattern slot offers Pick it, which fills it from your library , and Make it, which opens the New fig card or the pattern studio. What you make fills the slot and takes the slot’s label as its name if you left it Untitled. Photo, Sky, and Outfit slots offer Got it to tick them. The ✕ removes a slot, or empties a filled one. Tap + Add to add a slot: type what it needs, then select the kind.
Shots is a storyboard. Draw a shot opens the sketch pad and hides the drawer while you draw. Next shot keeps the drawing and opens a pad for the next shot; Done keeps it and shows the drawer again; Never mind shows the drawer again without keeping. Write a shot takes up to 140 characters. Tap a shot’s words to rewrite them. The ✕ removes a shot.
Shooting the shots
Once the idea has a scene and at least one shot, the Shots zone offers Shoot these. It opens the scene with The Camera on Clip and turns the shots into the clip’s plan: every shot becomes a blank cut on the band under the frame, numbered, showing its drawing on a paper card, with a ring on the first one. Frame the scene and press Cut!: the ringed blank fills with the shot. The status bar reads which shot is next. Back in the idea, a shot that has its cut shows a check in its number, and the button reads Keep shooting. Add shots later and Keep shooting adds their blanks after the cuts you have. Drop a shot and Keep shooting removes its blank cut and renumbers the rest, so every blank shows the card of the shot it stands for. A cut you already shot is never removed: it stays in the clip and no longer counts for a shot. See the cut's camera for the blank cuts and the Board.
Add to idea on a record page fills the first empty slot of that kind, or adds a filled slot when there is none. With no current idea, it starts one named after the piece. A claimed download offers the same. A scene card offers Add to idea only until the idea has a scene.
An idea that began as a design challenge shows the character’s face and their request.
Finishing
Start the scene opens a new scene named after the idea. Once the scene exists, the button reads Open the scene.
Finished. closes the idea and opens a closing card. With a scene, Make a spinning video opens The Camera on it. While that scene is open in the scene editor, Share it with everyone opens the share sheet. Take a bow closes the card.
Set aside saves the idea for later; find it under Ideas › All ideas…. Delete asks Delete item?, then removes the idea. Nothing you made is deleted.
All ideas… opens a window listing every saved idea with a Fresh or Challenge badge. Tap a row to open that idea. Activate makes one current and marks it Now. Delete removes one after Delete item?. + New idea at the top opens the New idea window.
While an idea is active, Today’s Start here row shows My idea with a count of filled slots (2/5).
